Don’t be a Dumb Ass!

A picture (like the one here)  can say so much.

Like..

“I’m really ok with living with my mother.”

Or,

“I’m not out of work.   ..I’m just resting.”

Or,

“Ladies, I’m available!”

And of course, the most obvious one of all,

“Yes, I’m a dumb ass.”

You see, this is what happens when you DON’T give enough consideration to your personal brand.

Don’t be that guy.. Know that EVERYTHING you say and do sends a message to others about who you are, what you stand for and where you’re headed. (all puns intended.)

So, even if you hate your job and you want something better, don’t use your dissatisfaction as an excuse to ignore your brand.  When I got out of school, (back before fire and dinosaurs) someone once told me, “dress for the job you want to have. Not the one you have today.” I’ve always lived by this motto and I have to admit, it has helped me more times than I can count.

Here’s why. When the mail clerk in the office hears about an opening in sales and approaches the manager of the dept. it’s a whole lot easier for the sales manager to imagine the mail clerk in a sales job if they already look and act like a sales person. It may sound silly but I guarantee, it works.

So, don’t be a dumb ass.
